Snowboarders from around the globe are flexing, stretching and getting ready to
ride for glory and celebrate the 10th birthday of the
Burton European Open
(BEO), January 9-16 in LAAX, Switzerland.
Among the confirmed invited riders are Burton Global Open Series Champion 07/08
Peetu Piiroinen from Finland, Olympic champion and defending 08 BEO slopestyle
winner
Shaun White (USA),
Mikkel Bang (NOR), placed second at last year’s Air
& Style in Munich, and Swiss style master
Nicolas Müller.
Something like 400 riders will come to the birthday shakedown with tricks aplenty
for the halfpipe and slopestyle competitions on Crap Sogn Gion at LAAX. All in the name of glory…? Nope, they also compete for the biggest chunk of a US 5,000 prize fund. Nice.
